Collector asks officials to achieve oil palm cultivation targets

District Collector T Vinay Krishna Reddy has directed the Horticulture Department officials to take steps to achieve the target of oil palm cultivation in the district at any cost.

On Thursday, he along, with horticulture and Patanjali Foods firm officials, visited the oil palm plant nursery in Inupamula village. He interacted with Patanjali Foods officials on the oil palm saplings ready for distribution and asked the nursery officials to meet the deadline of cultivating oil palm in 14,500 acres during 2023-24. He asked the horticulture and Patanjali Foods officials to provide drip-irrigation equipment to the farmers at the right time.

He was explained by the Horticulture officer, who accompanied him, that arrangements are underway to supply 8.20 lakh saplings through three oil palm nurseries in the district.

She asked the interested farmers to contact the Mandal-level Horticulture officer and oil palm company representative.

District Horticulture and Sericulture officer G Sangeeta Lakshmi, Horticulture Officer Ravula Vidyasagar and Rishita and representatives of Patanjali Foods took part in the event.
