Collector asks officials to stay on high alert

District Collector A Sarath has directed the officials to step up vigil and be on high alert because of heavy rains in the district. The Collector was reviewing the situation with the officials through a video conference from the Collectorate.
District Superintendent of Police Ramana Kumar was also present. The Collector directed the district officials, and Divisional and Mandal-level officials to take precautionary measures and prevent loss of life.
On this occasion, Sharat said that due to the incessant rains, there was a need to step up vigil. He advised the officials to move people in the low-lying areas to safety in case of emergency. All the irrigation tanks should be checked by the staff at the field level from time to time.
The Collector suggested that the Tahsildar, MPDO, police, Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, R&B officials, Gram Panchayat representatives and secretaries jointly examine the leaking ponds, roads, culverts and causeways and take appropriate preventive measures.
The Collector suggested that the Superintending Engineer of the Irrigation Department inspect tanks and give a report.
He directed the officials of the Agriculture Department to give necessary instructions to the farmers on the precautions to be taken to avoid crop damage.
The Collector directed that the MPDO in Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Secretary and Municipal Commissioner in urban areas identify the low-laying areas and take steps for the safety of people.
The Collector advised the District Medical and Health officer to ensure that the viral fevers do not erupt. He asked the officials to ensure that the government hospitals stock up on medicine.
The Superintendent of Police asked the police to prevent people from going fishing.
