In a decisive move to bolster industrial activity, Vizianagaram District Collector Nagalakshmi has directed officials to expedite the establishment of various industrial units by the end of the current financial year. This directive emerged during the District Industrial & Export Promotion Committee meeting held on Friday. The meeting prioritised the swift establishment of two key industrial clusters: solvent extraction plants in Merakamudidam Mandal Garbham and mango pulp production units in Bimali.
While acknowledging the sanctioning of 1,152 units by DIC, KVIC, and KVIB (with 681 operational), Nagalakshmi emphasised the need for immediate action to operationalise the remaining units. Additionally, prompt implementation of pending proposals under the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) was emphasised. Discussions addressed crucial aspects such as land allotment, land status changes, MSME prosperity surveys, development of flatted factory complexes, and industry expansion initiatives. The Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) was tasked with efficiently resolving land-related issues.
The meeting, attended by key officials from various departments, underscored the collective commitment to realising Visakhapatnam’s industrial potential and fostering economic prosperity for its residents. This proactive initiative by the district administration is expected to significantly accelerate industrial growth, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall economic well-being of Visakhapatnam.
