NTR District Collector Dr S Dilli Rao inspected the home voting process at Patamata in Vijayawada on Tuesday. He observed the vote-from-home process in which senior citizens above 85 years and disabled people cast their votes. He gave directions to the voters.
Speaking on the occasion, Collector Dilli Rao said that 1,052 voters are using the facility in the district. As per the details available with the district administration, there are 9,500 people who are above 85 years or differently-abled. Of them, only 1,052 voters have applied for home voting, he added.`
Special teams visited their houses and conducted the voting process in a transparent manner. Thirty-two teams have been appointed for the purpose in the district. So far, 90 per cent of voters have exercised their franchise and the remaining 10 per cent will cast their votes on May 9, he added.

centres inspected
In view of the polling for the general elections on May 13, Collector Dilli Rao, Joint Collector Dr P Sampath Kumar, and Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar inspected the strong rooms and counting centres arranged on the premises of the Nova and Nimra Engineering Colleges at Jupudi on Tuesday. As per the guidelines from the Election Commission of India, they are taking all security measures at the strong rooms and counting halls, he said.
