West Godavari district Collector Chadalavada Nagarani, flanked by MLA Arimilli Radhakrishna, laid the foundation stone for the construction of drain and Cement roads at Uradalapalem village in Attili Mandal on Wednesday.
The drain and the cement roads would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.10 crore. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Collector Nagarani said the government has taken up large-scale works to develop the village and efforts would be made to get more funds for development works by adding more working days.
“The material component of employment guarantee works has increased to 40 percent from earlier 30 percent. If about 10 lakh work is done, Rs 4 lakh will be sanctioned under the material component, thus supporting the development of infrastructure in the villages,” the Collector explained.
The Collector said that the government would provide unskilled work where needed so that the unskilled workers of the village do not face financial difficulties. The eligible unskilled people should take advantage of them, she said.
Nagarani said that women are leading in all fields and the role of women in the family is very important, depending on the economic conditions. When the men go abroad seeking livelihood, the women play an important role by taking the responsibility of the family, the Collector lauded the women.
In the NREGA works, the works useful to villagers and works related to canals, drains and farmers should be identified and allocated. It is suggested that the work done should be of quality and not temporary, she stated, adding that garbage has become a major problem for human survival. Collector Nagarani regretted that the plastic waste including bottles are dumped in the drains and canals causing inhibition of flood water leading to cloggings.
MLA Arimilla Radhakrishna highlighted that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan are keen to develop the state swiftly and consequently many development works are being launched, especially in the rural areas. ‘Palla Panduga’ is being organized aiming to provide needed amenities in the rural areas, the MLA pointed out.
The MLA made it clear that all the development works would be completed by the next Sankranthi festival. DWAMA PD KCH Appa Rao and Panchayat Raj DE B Vijay Kumar were among those who were present.
