Yadadri Bhongir District Collector M Hanumantarau emphasised the importance of hygiene and cleanliness in the food served to students in the Scheduled Caste Hostels. As part of the ‘night stay’ programme, the Collector spent the night with students at the Scheduled Caste Boys Hostel (pre-metric) in Narayanapur Mandal.
In the evening, the Collector visited the hostel, greeted the students, and inquired about the meals being provided and the daily routines. He inspected the surroundings of the hostel, including the kitchen, and personally supervised the cooking process. He checked the daily menu chart and asked the students if the meals were being served as per the menu. He also examined the stock register and inspected food items such as pulses, rice, tamarind, chilli, salt, eggs, and vegetables in the store room.
The Collector also visited the students’ rooms and classrooms, interacted with them, and asked if they had any issues. He warned that if substandard rice, vegetables, or other food items were supplied, the officials concerned should be informed, and action would be taken. He stressed that only quality ingredients should be used, and strict measures would be implemented in case of any negligence. He directed the hostel staff to ensure that expired or pest-infested items were not used.
He also inquired if the water used for cooking came from the tank or the RO water plant. Afterwards, the Collector had a meal with the students and discussed their academic challenges, providing advice and suggestions for improvement. He encouraged the students to aim for a 10/10 GPA this year and urged teachers to complete the syllabus on time, conduct special classes, and ensure 100% results for class 10 students.
The collector advised the students to listen attentively to the lessons taught by teachers, stressing that only through diligent studying can they secure a bright future and achieve higher positions. He told students that their parents have high hopes for them and that they should make their parents’ dreams come true by excelling in education and settling well in the future.
The Collector reviewed the attendance registers of the staff and students. He instructed the concerned authorities to ensure that quality standards are maintained while serving tasty meals. He also directed that wardens must stay in the hostel at all times.
During the programme, the Collector distributed 15 bicycles to students. Tahsildar Srinu, Warden Sudhakar and other officials accompanied the Collector.
