District Collector V R Karnan on Saturday advised the doctors and health worker to work with dedication and serve the poor people who visit the Government Hospitals.
Holding a review meeting with the officials of the District Medical and Health Department and doctors here, the Collector stressed the need to speed up the construction of sub-centre buildings in the district. There were 257 health sub-centres in the district. While 52 sub-centre are working from the government buildings, 205 from the rented buildings. The government sanctioned the construction of 164 buildings to house the sub-centres of them seven buildings were completed. He directed the District Medical and Health officer (DMHO) to appoint nodal officers to monitor the construction of buildings for sub-centres.
Karnan instructed the DMHO to appoint fill the vacancy of gynaecologist within a week. He asked the officials to ensure that institutional deliveries are increase institutional deliveries in Government Hospitals.
He asked the officials to ensure that the children are provided with nutritious food. He directed the officials to examine the children in Anganwadi centres and refer the children suffering malnutrition to Nutritious Rehabilitation Centres.
The Collector told the officials that only 58 per cent institutional deliveries took place in the Government Hospital and 42 in private hospitals. He also stressed the need to ensure normal childbirths. He asked the officials to monitor the distribution of KCR Kits.
Earlier, Karnana inspected the Government Hospital. He interacted with patients in the hospital. He enquired about the number of patients suffering cancer.
