Commercial crops badly damaged by Krishna floods

Commercial crops were badly damaged by the Krishna flood water in Avanigadda, Vyuuru and Penamaluru constituencies in Krishna districts. The standing crops including maize, guava, papaya, and banana were seen submerged in the Krishna floodwater.
The farmers raised yam, turmeric, vegetables, mirch and drumstick but all the crops were submerged in the Krishna flood water. If the crops continued to be submerged in the flood water for another two days, they would be rotten, the farmers lamented. The farmers on the bank of the river Krishna and at island villages raised horticulture crops and they have incurred huge losses now, Venkateswara Rao, a leader of the farmers association, said. Some of the farmers have lost their cattle as they washed away in the flood water, he stated.
However, some farmers shifted their buffaloes and goats to safer places from the villages to the safer places. Minister for BC Welfare S Savitha accompanied by MLA Varla Kumar Raja visited some of the flood-affected areas in Thotlavalluru village on Monday. She spoke to the flood victims and assured them to make arrangements to send them to the relief camps.  
In Nandigama constituency, villages in three mandals cut off from the outer world as they were surrounded by the Krishna flood water. The road connectivity between Nandigama and Chandrlapadu was cut off as the flood water submerged in the road. The road connectivity to Veerulapadu was also disrupted as flood water overflowed on the road.   Adding to the woes of flood victims, rain occurred in Nandigama on Monday. Paddy, cotton, black gram, chilli and vegetable crops were marooned in the flood water.
