Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president, YS Sharmila, had to face an embarrassing situation at the ‘Rachabanda’ programme held by her at Narsipatnam in Anakapalli district on Saturday.
She faced probing questions from a common man, challenging her decision to join the Congress party – a move perceived as contrary to the interests of the YSR family.
The young man questioned Sharmila’s deviation from the legacy of former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, affectionately known as YSR, among the people of the Telugu states.
He reminded Sharmila of the tumultuous times when the Congress levied what he described as unjust allegations against her brother and the current Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, leading to his imprisonment.
He recalled her solidarity with her brother during the TDP regime, as they both fought for justice for the people of the State.
The common man’s direct and pointed queries left Sharmila momentarily without a response. Undeterred, he pressed the Congress president for answers, emphasising that the people of the State find solace in the people-centric governance of Chief Minister YS Jagan, reaffirming his unwavering support for the leader.
