A complaint was lodged against ward volunteers by the Opposition TDP with the State Election Commissioner for openly participating in YSRC campaign in the election to sarpanches and ward members.
The party politburo member Varla Ramaiah complained that Ward No 2 of Pyapili Village is being contested and volunteers are openly campaigning in favour of YSRC which is in violation of ECI guidelines and rules thereon. He alleged that this is not a stray incident but observed in all elections under supervision of the State Election Commission in the state.
Ramaiah further complained that for the sarpanch position of Penta Srirampuram, Gantyada Mandal, Vizianagaram district, Grama volunteers and VRA and other outsourcing employees of the college are openly defying the rules and campaigning for YSRC. He further complained that at Lakkireddypalle panchayat, of the same mandal, Annamayya district where election is for ward no. 2, the volunteers, the Anganawadi and Asha workers are caught on video campaigning for YSRC candidates.
Ramaiah stated that it is nothing but failure of authorities to ensure conduct of elections as per rules. He sought issuing of directions to the election authorities not to allow any volunteers in the election campaign or election process and to take immediate action against participant volunteers.
