The officials in district launched a comprehensive field survey on Thursday to identity cultivable land and eligible landless families. The survey will continue till January 20.
The survey is intended to identify cultivable lands for extending the input subsidy of Rs 12,000 per acre under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, which is Rs 2,000 more than the subsidy offered under the previous BRS regime’s Rythu Bandhu. This subsidy will be available from January 26. The state government has made it clear that input subsidies will not be provided for lands that are not under cultivation, unlike in the previous BRS administration.
Kamareddy district has a total landholding of 5,35,755 acres. During the 2023-24 Vanakalam (kharif) season, 2.99 lakh farmers received Rs 261 crore under Rytu Bandhu, a scheme now renamed Rytu Bharosa under the Congress regime. In the Yasangi (Rabi) season of the same year, 2.88 lakh farmers received Rs 260 crore in input subsidies.
There have been allegations that the BRS government had extended the Rytu Bandhu subsidy to lands that were not actively cultivated. The Congress government, however, is committed to ensuring that subsidies are provided for lands under cultivation.
The ongoing survey will focus on identifying lands that have been converted into real estate layouts, roads, industrial warehouses, or are filled with rocks and hillocks unsuitable for farming. Lands acquired by the government for various purposes will also be excluded from the subsidy list. The survey is being carried out at the mandal level with Tahsildar, agriculture officials, revenue staff, and AEOs working together.
From January 21 to 24, grama sabhas will be held to read out the details of lands that are not fit for receiving the input subsidy. A final list will be prepared at that time.
Additionally, the Congress government has introduced the Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa scheme, providing Rs 12,000 per year to landless agricultural workers. To qualify, workers must have MGNREGS job cards and have worked at least 20 days during the 2023-24 period. Kamareddy district has 2.50 lakh job cards, with 60,500 workers meeting the 20-day criteria. Eligible landless agricultural workers will be identified, and their names will be announced during the grama sabhas. Objections can be raised with the MPDO.
Regarding the issuance of new ration cards, individuals who do not currently have cards will be identified based on the caste-based survey results and will be provided with ration cards after scrutiny.
Furthermore, a survey is underway to identify beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing scheme, which has sanctioned 3,500 houses per Assembly constituency. With four constituencies in Kamareddy district, including Banswada, which spans both Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts, the district is expected to receive around 12,500 houses.
