Kesali Apparao, Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Child Rights Commission, has expressed grave concerns about the alarming trend of selling cough medicines and controlled medications to minors without proper supervision or prescriptions. Speaking at an awareness program on the Prevention of drug and substance abuse for district drug store owners, Apparao highlighted the issue of medications like Corex, Alprazolam (0.25, 0.5 mg), and Benzodiazepines being sold to children. “It is deeply concerning that these drugs are being sold to children without proper controls. Our commission is committed to addressing this issue through rigorous enforcement,” Apparao stated during the event organized by the Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) and the Visakha District Drug Administration.

The session, chaired by District Drug Administration Assistant Director S. Vijaya Kumar, brought to light numerous complaints about the illegal sale of narcotic injections.
