The first public meeting of former AICC president Rahul Gandhi is being held in Khammam on Sunday after the party’s success in Karnataka.
The Khammam public meeting will witness many significant developments as suspended BRS leaders Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and several other BRS leaders from Khammam district will joining the Congress in the presence of Rahul on Sunday.
The Congress high command has planned the concluding event of CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka padayatra too on the same day to hype up the padayatra. The Congress has already said that it will blow the election bugle at the Khammam public meeting.
Both the Congress and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy are making all out efforts to mobilize around four lakh people for the public meeting on the 100-acre premises. Half the premises are kept apart for parking.
Telangana Congress leaders have been stating that they will bring down KCR’s government after the Khammam meeting and that it will be a turning point in Telangana politics. The people are also looking forward to the Khammam meeting.
Political analysts said that Rahul’s public meeting will bring about rapid changes in state politics. After the Khammam meeting, the Congress is going to organise another public meeting in Mahbubnagar on July 14 or 16 in which another suspended BRS leader, Jupally Krishna Rao, and K. Damodar Reddy and Gurnath Reddy will join the Congress.
Meanwhile, BRS leaders Khammam ZP Chairperson Koram Kanakaiah and Pidamarthi Ravi and several other BRS leaders quit on Saturday to join the Congress on Sunday in the presence of Rahul.
Telangana Congress in-charge Manikrao Thakre said that the strength of the Congress in Telangana has increased after the Karnataka elections and that the Telangana Congress leaders are coordinating their moves well.
He also said that many prominent leaders of the BRS and the BJP are in touch with them and that they will join the Congress after the Khammam public meeting.
