The Congress’ social media game in Telangana is gaining strength, with its handles across platforms activated and featuring a lot of content. Congress leaders in Telangana want the cadre to gain insights from the party’s victory in Karnataka and build momentum in TS.
AppannaHastham by Congress, Telangana AtmaGouravam by BJP are among the top pages dominating Facebook. Over the past two months, the Congress has surpassed BJP’s page created during the Huzurabad byelection.
Popular BRS page ‘KCR Army’has lost traction with the Congress upping its game. However, among BRS pages KCR Army continues to be on top, followed by TRS party Hyderabad. One can clearly notice on Twitter there are a lot of verified handles of the Congress which are active. Some of the handles used in Karnataka were reportedly renamed. On YouTube, Chakirevu is taking the lead from Congress. Congress is hands down dominating Instagram with Revanth leading the pack evident from the postings. The content and agenda are being done by the political strategy team of Sunil Kanugolu.
TPCC Social Media Chairman Naveen Pettem has been on a spree of appointing social media coordinators for the Assembly segments. Village coordinators for the Social Media Department are being appointed day in and out.
For Kodangal,from where TPCC Revanth Reddy is likely to contest, 155 coordinators were appointed. In all, 67 coordinators have been appointed in Bellampalli, 81 in Tandur. and 114 in Parigi.
Sources said that in Karnataka the upper hand the Congress gained in spreading political information through social media gave the party an edge. Sources said: “Party will focus on one issue per day and the same content will go in all pages, WhatsApp and other groups. Besides, other regular postings will be there and curated content based on constituencies”. The Congress is cautious in not giving BJP or BRS the opportunity to dominate the narrative.
