Cong to organise ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ on March 13

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president and former MLC Gidugu Rudra Raju has said that the Congress party will organise a ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ agitation on March 13 against the financial irregularities in the Adani Group. Prior to the protest programme, the Congress will organise agitations at all mandal headquarters on March 6, he said.

Rudra Raju, along with PCC leaders and AICC members, addressed the reporters at Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada on Wednesday. The leaders participated in the two-day party plenary meetings held at Naya Raipur in Chattisgarh.

The PCC chief said that the Congress party plenary discussed Adani’s financial irregularities besides the Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh, which was given by the UPA government. Also, the plenary passed a unanimous resolution regarding the Special Category Status, he said.

He further said the Polavaram project, backward districts development fund for the Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema districts, and the implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act-2014 were also discussed in the plenary meeting.

He thanked the party leaders for taking Andhra Pradesh’s issues as the main agenda.

Meanwhile, Rudra Raju said the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant remained in the control of the Central government if the Congress came to power. During the Congress regime, the steel plant was developed and former Prime Ministers Rajiv Gandhi, PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh released crores of rupees for further extension of the plant, he added. The Congress party plenary has decided to give 50 per cent posts to the SC, ST, OBC, minorities, youth and women, he said.

APCC working president Mastan Vali, senior leaders Kolanukonda Sivaji, Naraharasetti Narasimha Rao, V Gurunadham, Meesala Rajeswara Rao and others were present.
