BRS MLA Harish Rao criticized the Congress government for misleading the public and the Assembly over the state’s debts.
Speaking during a heated session, Harish demanded a special debate on state finances in the presence of auditors and financial experts and challenged the Congress to prove its claims.
“I challenge the Congress government to conduct a special debate in this House. Bring financial experts and auditors. I will prove the truth. The Congress is trying to hide its mismanagement by blaming past governments,” he asserted.
Harish revealed that, as per RBI data, the Congress government has taken loans of Rs 55,277 crore under FRBM limits and a total of Rs 1,27,208 crore in loans within a year. “At this rate, in five years, the Congress will take loans of Rs 6,36,400 crore. Compare this with that of the BRS government, which borrowed just Rs 4,17,496 crore in 10 years,” he stated.
He accused the Congress of deliberately misleading people about state finances. “In its white paper, the Congress mentioned Telangana’s debt as Rs 6,71,757 crore during BRS rule. Now, they claim it is Rs 7,11,911 crore. They are throwing random numbers at the public,” Harish said.
