Congress in the habit of breaking promises: Harish

Must read

Former minister and Bharat Rahstra Samithi leader T Harish Rao on Friday questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the party’s manifesto in the context of the Telangana government failing to fulfil the six guarantees. The Congress is in the habit of breaking promises.
Speaking at the Medak Parliamentary Party preparatory meeting, the former minister referred to certain promises in it. The manifesto promised to amend the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution and make defection (leaving the original party on which the MLA or MP was elected) an automatic disqualification of the membership in the Assembly or Parliament. If so, why the Congress party in Telangana has been encouraging defection from other parties, he asked. The promise is one more deceptive tactic, he felt. On the promises given ahead of Assembly elections, Harish Rao said that the Congress government failed to fulfil most of the guarantees. The Congress government failed to implement promises like waving farm loans up at one go.

The Telangana government, he said, remained insensitive to the farmers’ woes. The failure on the part of the government to waive crop loans led to the banks refusing to sanction fresh loans to farmers. It pushed the farmers into committing suicides, he said.
