Congress rules out alliance with BRS in Telangana

Must read

Declaring that there is no question of an alliance with the BRS in Telangana, AICC Media Publicity Committee Chairman Pawan Khera said that the Congress’ fight in Telangana is with the BRS.

He said that the Congress is strengthening in Telangana like in Karnataka and that he was confident that the Congress will win in Telangana.

“I am sure that the Congress will be the number one but I don’t know which party will come second in Telangana,” he said.

He said that Congress promised to ban Bajrang Dal in Karnataka in its election manifesto as the Supreme Court had asked to take action against ‘hate’ speeches. He said that the Karnataka government will take action against Bajrang Dal if the Bajrang Dal or the PFI engages in hate politics.

“An attempt is being made to harm religious harmony in Telangana. The Assam CM did that on May 14 in Karimnagar. People are dying as the BJP did the same in Manipur,” he said.

Addressing the media at the Country Club on Tuesday, Pawan suggested that KCR should think of the Prime Minister’s post only after winning at least 100 Assembly seats in Telangana.

He said that the local Congress leadership will decide the Congress election manifesto for the Telangana Assembly elections. He said that local leaders are fully aware of Telangana matters.

He said that exposing the failures of the BRS government is the main responsibility of the Congress as it is the main opposition party in Telangana. He said that their fight will continue against the policies of the Centre.

Responding to a question, Pawan said the CLP will decide who should be the CM of Telangana. The AICC will take the right decision at the right time. He said that the Congress will give a lot of attention to social justice and once the government comes to power, a caste census will be done.

Describing the Karnataka elections as historical, Pawan said that there is no answer from Prime Minister Modi on anything. So the Prime Minister keeps the media and the opposition busy.

Modi did the same thing in Karnataka while attending 48 public meetings. It is painful that Modi is ‘dividing’ people as PM. He doesn’t care about the future of the nation, Pawan added.

Emotions are common in politics, but the aim of the Congress is to fulfil the dreams of the people. He said that the Congress implemented the assurances given by it in the very first Cabinet meeting in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh.

“We will implement the assurances given during the Karnataka elections in the first Cabinet meeting itself,” he said.
