BRS MLC K Kavitha went at the Congress hammer and tongs for being “unfair” and “ungrateful” to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. The Congress did not give prominence to him. “PV’s services to the country cannot be forgotten,” she asserted on Monday.

Speaking at a meeting, shortly after unveiling PV’s statue here, Kavitha said that the former prime minister had reformed India’s economy. The measures adopted by him averted the impending 1991 crisis, she pointed out. Saying that PV was the son of Telangana soil, she came down on Congress for ignoring PV’s contributions to the country.

The meeting was organised by the Brahmin community here. Kavitha, along with PV’s daughter, who is MLC Vani Devi, and son Prabhakar Rao, unveiled PV’s statue. “The statue is a symbol and a reminder for each one of us of his remarkable contributions to India’s progress,” she said.

She recalled that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had organised PV’s centenary celebrations on a grand scale. The Congress failed to hold PV’s centenary celebrations, she remarked.

‘Malicious propaganda’ against RTC merger with govt criticised

BRS MLC K Kavitha on Monday came on critics who resorted to malicious campaign against the ruling party over the merger of TSRTC with the State government. It was atrocious to say that the merger was carried out with an eye on the TSRTC assets.

Addressing a media conference here, the BRS MLC made it clear that the government took the decision to protect the public sector unit. There was no hidden agenda behind it. The Congress tried to politicise the construction of the new Secretariat. The government waived the farm loans to ensure the welfare of farmers. She dismissed the Congress claim that the government had released funds for crop loan waiver because of its pressure. The implementation of the loan waiver scheme was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The loan waiver would benefit 35 lakh farmers and it would cost Rs Rs 19,000 crore, she said.
