Ahead of the Telangana Assembly elections, it appears that the Congress and the BJP have exchanged their respective working styles.
The Karnataka results brought about a change in the attitude of the Congress and BJP leaders. Congress leaders are now chanting unity and stressing the need to work together unlike their normal behaviour to ensure the victory of the Congress in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
But in the BJP dissidence is increasing by the day. In the past, Congress leaders used to go to New Delhi to complain against their rivals in the party to their high command. But now it is Telangana BJP leaders who do this.
Usually, the Congress symbolises dissidence and indiscipline. At the same time, the BJP is known for its iron discipline. But surprisingly in both parties, the atmosphere changed suddenly. Telangana Congress leaders are now closing their ranks setting aside their differences to fight the BRS.
The Congress victory in Karnataka has given confidence to Telangana Congress leaders. Now senior Congress leaders are ready to come down a step to work together.
While giving a call to former Congress leaders and those who joined the BJP to return, TPCC President Revanth Reddy said, “If they think they will have a problem with me in future, I am ready to come down not just one step, but 10 steps to welcome them into the party.”
This shows how the Congress is determined to come to power in Telangana. Before the Karnataka elections, BJP leaders were very confident about coming to power in Telangana. If they had any differences the BJP leaders never came out openly about that.
But now they are opening up and making New Delhi trips to meet their leaders to complain against their rivals. Some BJP leaders strongly think that the BJP may not come to power under the leadership of Sanjay and must change him.
Perhaps the BJP’s defeat in Karnataka might have given the guts to state BJP leaders to open up before their leadership and express their real opinions about TS party affairs.
