Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed officials to construct and expand link roads in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas to meet both present and future needs.
Chairing a review meeting on Saturday on the link roads project of the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL) at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), the Chief Minister said that the connectivity network must be designed keeping in view public convenience and urban growth.
The review covered the construction and expansion plans of 49 link roads across the city and HMDA limits.
Revanth stressed that these roads must improve interconnectivity between key areas, facilitating smooth and hassle-free travel for citizens.
“The roads should be designed by considering broader public interest. We must ensure that the roads not only address present needs but are also capable of meeting the demands of the future,” the Chief Minister told officials.
The Chief Minister said that existing roads should also be expanded wherever necessary without hesitating to acquire additional land, even if it involves higher costs.
He said that reducing traffic congestion and saving travel time for citizens must be the primary objectives. “People should feel the difference once these roads are completed,” he said.
Revanth also said that while taking up new projects or expansions, future mobility patterns and urban development should also be taken into account. He emphasized that well-planned link roads would help reduce travel distances, ease traffic bottlenecks and enhance the travel experience in the capital region.
The review meeting was attended by the CM’s Advisor, Vem Narender Reddy, State Infrastructure Advisor Srinivasaraju, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, Principal Secretaries V. Seshadri and Chandrasekhar Reddy, CM’s Special Secretary Ajit Reddy, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad and Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary Danakishore and others.
