Coolie makers land in soup as Ilayaraja complains!

Must read

Renowned music composer Ilayaraja has taken legal action against the makers of the upcoming film Coolie for unauthorised use of his music in the title teaser. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film stars superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role.
The teaser for Coolie was recently unveiled by the producers, Sun Pictures. However, it has stirred controversy as it features a recreated version of Ilayaraja’s iconic song Va va pakkam va from the film Thangamagan, without obtaining the composer’s consent. In response to this infringement, Ilayaraja has sent copyright notices to Sun Pictures, highlighting the violation of the Copyright Act of 1957. The notices also draw attention to director Lokesh Kanagaraj, accusing him of repeated instances of unauthoried use of copyrighted material.

Sun Pictures is yet to respond to the legal notices from Ilayaraja, and the matter remains unresolved. Meanwhile, fans and industry insiders await further developments regarding this copyright dispute, which has sparked debate within the Tamil film fraternity.
