Cordon and search operations intensified; vehicles seized

On the directions of SP Harshavardhan Raju, the police have intensified the cordon and search operations in the district to avoid violence incidents during and after the counting of votes on June 4.
SP Harshavardhan Raju instructed the police officials to oppress with iron hand the anti-social elements and their anti-social activities as they damage peace and tranquillity.
“The police officials should give importance to ensuring that no untoward incident takes place during and after the counting of votes. The rowdy sheeters, trouble mongers, suspects and other such anti-socials should be detained and focus should be laid on their movements,” the SP told the police officials here on Saturday.  
SP Harshavardhan Raju said that several police teams led by DSPs, CIs and Sis conducted cordon and search operations at various problematic places aiming to ensure that the counting of votes should be held without any disturbances.
The police teams during the cordon and search operations seized 12 two-wheelers at Mopuru village as the owners failed to produce relevant records of the vehicles and two bikes were also seized at Bommagunta village for the same reason. The police officials during the cordon and search operation held meetings with the elders of the respective villages and explained to them that the election code of conduct is enforced and all should follow the rules. They were instructed not to participate in victory rallies after election results were declared.

The SP also directed the police officials to conduct checks on firecracker godowns. He said that firecracker godown owners in Srikalahasti, Puttur, Naidupet, Chandragiri, Renigunta, Tirupati and Gudur obtained licences and they should be instructed not to sell firecrackers till completion of the counting of votes.
