Cyberabad Commissioner of Police M Stephen Raveendra on Wednesday called for car-pooling to reduce traffic in the IT corridor.
The suggestion was made during a meeting conducted by the Cyberabad police and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC).He also stressed on companies to encourage their gate security staff to focus on traffic management near the entry/exit gates to prevent blockages. He said there is need to increase traffic volunteers by SCSC.
The Commissioner further said, “A scientific study was carried out to analyse peak and non-peak traffic hours before implementing certain measures to decongest some of the junctions. The new traffic diversion decisions were taken and even though some of the measures lead to circuitous routes, the idea is to ensure that instead of having multiple stops, the vehicles can continue to move at a smooth pace without any interruptions.”
Shedding light on the SSC and Cyberabad police’s efforts to curb traffic in the corridor, Secretary General of the SCSC, Krishna Yadula said, “The two organisations have taken pro-active steps to reduce traffic in the corridor through a dialogue with the IT companies.”
Joint commissioner for traffic in Cyberabad, Narayan Naik, briefed the gathering regarding the progress of construction of a flyover near Gachibowli junction and how traffic police have taken various measures to cause least inconvenience till the completion of the flyover, by opening of alternative routes. He gave a presentation to the IT Industry on how the Cyberabad traffic police is preparing for the coming monsoon as well.
