CPM State secretary V Srinivasa Rao has demanded that the government return the land in the Special Economic Zones to the farmers instead of keeping it vacant for years together.
The CPM leader told media persons here on Thursday that the Kakinada SEZ was started with ten thousand acres but even after one and half decades not even a single industry has come out and the local people were deceived under the pretext of giving large-scale employment. At least now Chandrababu Naidu should fulfil his promise and encourage setting up of industries creating large scale employment in the SEZs’ he added. Srinivasarao further demanded the state government to discuss in depth with the trade unions on the industrial policies before finalizing them. The SEZ was started when Chandrababu Naidu came to power for the first time as the Chief Minister and till now no industries have come up.
The government announced six new industrial policies under which in the next five years there would be Rs.30 lakh Crores investment creating employment for 20 lakh people. But what happened to the three industrial policies announced previously and the progress achieved in investments and employment? he asked.
Srinivasa Rao said that under the agitational programme `Praja Poru’ planned from November 8 to 15 the party would organise agitations statewide highlighting the problems faced by the people of the state. CPM leader AV Nageswara Rao was among those who were present.
