The CR Foundation, founded in honour of the legendary Communist leader Chandra Rajeswara Rao (CR), has announced its expansion into Andhra Pradesh, with Vijayawada set to be its new headquarters. The foundation, known for its work promoting national unity and social cohesion, aims to extend its outreach and further its mission of progressive development, aligned with the ideals of its founder.
During the Silver Jubilee celebrations held on Saturday at the Sri Rama Function Hall in Vijayawada, Dr. K. Narayana, National Secretary of the CPI and Honorary President of the CR Foundation, made the official announcement. He highlighted that the foundation’s charitable initiatives, including women’s empowerment, cultural programs, and library activities, would continue under a Charitable Trust, separate from the Communist Party’s influence.
The event was graced by Chief Guest, retired Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge Akula Venkata Sesha Sai, who spoke fondly of CR’s legacy. He praised the leader for promoting national unity beyond political differences and recalled CR’s remarkable gesture of supporting the Indian Army during the India-Pakistan war, visiting the borders to boost morale.
Avanigadda MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad, who also addressed the gathering, emphasized the importance of sacrifice and simplicity in today’s world, values he said were exemplified by CR. He shared that his family had a close relationship with CR’s family.
