Crime rate dwindles in Kakinada district: SP

Superintendent of police S Satish Kumar has said that the crime rate has come down in the district since the police department has worked efficiently.
The SP released the annual report 2023 in the SP office on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the SP said that the crime rate in Kakinada district had come down considerably during the year 2023. He said that the police would provide better services and policing more efficiently in the year 2024.
The SP said that 1530 ganja and illicit liquor cases were registered in the year 2023 as against 8,549 in the year 2022. He said that 235 road accidents had taken place during the year 2023 as against 356 in the year 2022. The road accidents had come down in the district due to extensive drunk drive checking.  He said that 5,609 drunk drive cases were registered during the year 2023 as against 2120 during the year 2022.
The SP informed that 21 murders had taken place during the year 2023 as against 32 murders in 2022. As many as 88 burglaries took place during the year 2023 as against 106 in the year 2022, the SP added. Additional SP Srinivas and DSP Lalita Kumar were present.
