CS inaugurates scheme in Kurnool

Chief Secretary K Vijayanand launched the Dokka Seethamma Midday Meal Scheme for government junior college students at the Government Junior College in Kurnool. The scheme, covering 475 junior colleges across Andhra Pradesh, will benefit 1,48,149 students.
The Chief Secretary expressed his happiness in being part of the initiative, which has already been implemented for Classes 1 to 10. He mentioned that Rs 28 crore has been allocated for this academic year and Rs 86 crore for the next, ensuring nutritious meals for junior college students to support their physical, mental, and intellectual growth. In Kurnool district alone, 8,678 students from 23 junior colleges will benefit.
The meal menu will vary daily, offering balanced options like vegetable pilaf, egg curry, peanut-jaggery mix, pulihora, and vegetable rice, ensuring a diet rich in protein, fibre, and carbohydrates.
Encouraging students to excel in all fields, Vijayanand urged them to work hard and make the state and country proud. District Collector P. Ranjith Basha praised the initiative and assured smooth implementation.
Following the launch, the Chief Secretary joined the students for a communal lunch and interacted with them about their studies and goals. Joint Collector Dr B. Navya, Adoni Sub-Collector Maurya Bharadwaj, Assistant Collector Ch. Kalyani, DEO Samuel Paul, and other officials attended the event.
