CS shows the way in spreading green cover

Chief Secretary of Telangana Government Somesh Kumar planted three saplings as he participated in the Green India Challenge on Thursday.

He said that it is the responsibility of the citizens to plant saplings that provide oxygen to one crore lives. He applauded the initiative taken by the MP Joginipalli Santosh Kumar to increase the green cover in the state, as he celebrated his birthday by taking the challenge at Sanjeevayya Park.

Somesh Kumar said, “Green India Challenge is an excellent programme started by MP Santosh Kumar with responsibility for the welfare of future generations and for creating awareness about nature.”

He further added that there is no other such a large-scale plantation programme in the history of India. “My heartfelt thanks to Santosh Kumar who gave me an opportunity to participate in this programme on my birthday,” he added.

He appealed to the people to plant saplings by participating in the Green India Challenge as well as in the ‘Haritha Haaram.”

“The Green India Challenge was initially started in Telangana state attracting common man and celebrities alike, encouraging everyone to plant saplings, watering trees, safeguarding the flora and in nurturing nature,” the Chief Secretary said. Raghavender Yadav, founder of Green India Challenge, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) officials and others participated.
