On the fifth day of the Dasara Navaratri festival celebrations, the presiding Goddess Kanakadurga manifested as Sri Mahachandi Devi on Monday. Goddess Sri Mahachandi Devi is revered as the trishakti embodiment of Mahalakshmi, Mahakali, and Mahasaraswati, symbolising the power to vanquish evil and protect the virtuous. Devotees believe that praying to Sri Mahachandi is akin to worshipping all deities, as she encompasses their divine powers. Her blessings are said to confer education, fame, and wealth, while also transforming foes into friends. Many devotees hold a strong conviction that their wishes will be fulfilled by seeking her grace.
As thousands flocked to the sacred Indrakiladri hilltop in Vijayawada to seek the blessings of the presiding goddess, the district administration implemented extensive arrangements to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for all. Senior officials from the Endowments, Police, Revenue, and Municipal Corporation departments are actively monitoring the necessary arrangements to facilitate easy darshan for the common devotees.
The authorities have made several provisions to enhance the spiritual experience for those visiting the temple. Temple staff and voluntary organisations are continuously distributing drinking water, buttermilk, and milk to devotees in the queue. Thanks to the efforts of the Endowments Department, devotees are enjoying a hassle-free darshan experience.
In addition, youths from various colleges, including NSS and Red Cross volunteers, are providing invaluable assistance. Elderly and disabled devotees are transported to the Rajagopuram in wheelchairs, ensuring they can have darshan of the presiding goddess. Facilities are being managed effectively to accommodate the increased number of devotees. Many are appreciative of the Police Sevadal personnel, who are also assisting the elderly and disabled in accessing darshan.
Devotees have expressed their gratitude for District Collector Dr G. Srijana’s daily visits to the temple, where she inquires about the devotees’ needs and ensures swift action to address any concerns, thus facilitating a smooth experience during the Dasara festival.
