CM will meet CEOs of international companies: Min Sridhar.
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said that his official visit to Davos in Switzerland along with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is aimed at bagging investments. He said that they would meet the CEOs of global companies during their visit.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Sridhar said that he and the Chief Minister will be leaving for Davos on Sunday to attend the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) being held from January 15 to January 19.
He said the World Economic Forum is the premier international platform where members of governments, global CEOs, industry captains and social entrepreneurs meet every year to address global issues and shape the agenda for governments, industry and social action.
He said that the WEF meet is an invite-only event that attracts around 3,000 delegates every year including representatives of 100 governments, top 1,000 global companies, leading international organizations, NGOs and the media.
He said that the Chief Minister was invited by WEF to attend this year’s event soon after he assumed office. After the formation of Telangana, this is the first time a Chief Minister is leading the official delegation. The Principal Secretary (IT and Industries) and the CM’s Principal Secretary are also part of the delegation.
He said that WEF provides an excellent opportunity to interact with industry leaders both from India and abroad and share the new government’s priorities. It is also an ideal platform to showcase the strengths of TS as a leading IT and Life Sciences hub.
Sridhar said that his team has a very busy schedule at Davos. “The CM and I will be meeting around 70 industry leaders in three days. This includes CEOs and CXOs of top companies like Novartis, Medtronic, Astra Zeneca, Google, Uber, Mastercard, Bayer, LDC and UPL. We will also be meeting the captains of Indian industry like Tata, Wipro, HCL Tech, JSW, Godrej, Airtel, and Bajaj. We will also interact with leading business groupings like the CII and NASSCOM as well as media networks,” he said. “We are leaving no stone unturned to make it a very successful trip.
We expect to sign many MoUs and investment deals in pharma, electronics, data centres, defence, aerospace, food processing and renewable energy. We will be sharing more details about these every day from Davos,” Sridhar added.
He said that the Chief Minister has also been invited to speak at the WEF Congress Centre, a special honour during his first visit to Davos. The CM will be sharing his views during
the panel discussion on transforming healthcare digitally, which is also a key priority of our government. The CM will also be attending another high-level WEF event on ‘Food Systems and Local Action’ where he will speak about the impact of climate change on the agri economy and measures to promote climate resilient agriculture while protecting farmers’ livelihoods, Sridhar said.
“I will be attending a panel discussion on ‘Developing Skills for AI’ hosted by the AI industry. I will also be meeting many tech companies, trade organisations and NRI entrepreneurs,” he said. “We will also be meeting the top management of the
World Economic Forum including its President, Mr Brende Borge, and sector heads. Telangana has a strong institutional engagement with WEF. As you may be aware, Hyderabad is the only city in India to host the WEF’s Centre for the 4th Industrial Revolution (C4IR) for the Healthcare and Life Sciences sector.
