District Collector Jitesh V Patil on Thursday appealed to people built rain harvesting pits at their houses to help raise groundwater level.
He appreciated rainwater harvesting structure constructed at Vidyanagar Colony under gram panchayat of Chunchupalli mandal.
The Collector urged people to extend their cooperation in helping the raise the groundwater table. He suggested that pits should be built at government buildings and private buildings. He stressed the need to educate people on the importance of rain harvesting pits to ensure that there is no water scarcity in futre.
Jitesh V Patil also urged people to participate in Cleanliness and Greenery programme launched by the State government and make it a success. The importance of planting saplings was stressed.
DRDO Vidya Chandana, Chunchupally Tahsildar Panem Krishna, MPDO VDV Ashok Kumar, MPO Satyanarayana EGS Nagaraju, Panchayat Secretary Sanjeeva Reddy Gram Panchayat staff participated in this programme.
