DCA raids 15 medical shops and issues show cause notices

The Telangana Drug Control Administration (DCA)  raided 15 private medical shops situated within government hospital premises in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Warangal and Karimnagar and issued show cause notices to these shops.
According to the DCA, the targeted shops included Vyshnavi Medical and General Stores, Jeevan Usha Sravanthi Generic Medical Stores and others within Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad. Similar actions were taken against Sai Pharmacy and Amrit Pharmacy at Niloufer Hospital and Jana Jeevani Jyothi Stores at Government Maternity Hospital, Petlaburz. Additional raids occurred at Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad and MGM Hospital in Warangal, affecting stores like Thirumala Medical and General Stores and Rani Rudrama Devi Jeevandhara Pharmacy. In Karimnagar, Jeevandhara Pharmacy and Praja Aarogya Pharmacy were also raided.
During the inspections, the DCA officials found numerous violations for sale of drugs without prescriptions, lack of a registered pharmacist, poor maintenance of drug registers, missing sales records, improper storage conditions and the presence of expired medications.
The DCA officials stated that action will be taken against these shops after reviewing their explanations in response to the notices.
