DCA Officials raided Sri Sai Super Speciality Dental Hospital in Wanaparthy on Monday, where Dentist M Venkata Suresh was found operating a pharmacy within the hospital without a drug licence. The raid uncovered a stock of medicines worth Rs 80,000 considered for sale. The officials said samples were collected for analysis and further investigation is underway.
On the same day, DCA officials raided NAJM Pharmacy at Noor Khan Bazaar, Charminar, Hyderabad. Mir Hussain Hyder Razvi was operating a medical shop without a valid drug licence. The raid seized 36 varieties of medicines, including habit-forming drugs like Alprazolam tablets and Codeine syrups, worth totaling Rs 50,000. The officials said, samples were collected and appropriate action will be taken as per the law.
DCA officials advised the public to avoid purchasing medicines from unlicenced medical shops. Doing so poses significant risks to public health, as these outlets operate without regulation. It is advisable to purchase medicines exclusively from licenced medical shops. These legal establishments display their drug licences issued by the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, confirming transparency and safety for consumers.
The Drug Control Administration officials also seized type 2 diabetes treating tablets “Tenebetic-20” at Kothapet village in Uppal mandal.
The product was found to be overpriced compared to the ceiling price set by the Central Government Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. Further investigation will be conducted and necessary action will be taken against the violators.
