Death of pregnant woman sparks protest in Nagarkurnool

FThe death of a pregnant woman while undergoing treatment at a private hospital sparked a protest here on Thursday. The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Ramulamma.
A social organisation organised a protest in front of the private hospital, demanding that a criminal case be registered against those responsible for the death of the woman.
Ramulamma from Alair under Telkapalle Mandal, came to Nagar Kurnool for treatment at a private nursing home. After receiving treatment there, the staff referred her to another hospital, and from there, she was referred to Raghavendra Private Hospital.
Upon admission to Raghavendra Hospital, the medical staff provided treatment, but her condition worsened by evening. The doctors then informed the family that she should be shifted to Gayathri Hospital and discharged her.
The family then transferred the pregnant woman to Gayathri Private Hospital at Kollapur crossroads. There, doctors conducted tests and informed the family that her condition had deteriorated, so they referred her to the District Government Hospital.
On the way to the Government Hospital, she died. The family confirmed this and, feeling helpless, returned the body to Raghavendra Hospital. They expressed anger, blaming the negligence of the hospital staff for her death. After informing the public, Left party leaders arrived and supported the grieving family. They staged a protest on the hospital premises, demanding justice for the victim’s family and calling for action against the hospital that provided the treatment.
Dr Lakshmareddy, the physician at Raghavendra Hospital, however. Stated that the death was caused by uncontrolled hypertension.
Meanwhile, local MLA K Rajesh Reddy met the relative of the woman and enquired about the incident. He assured the woman’s relatives that he would support the family in every way. He promised to ensure that justice is served.
