Former minister and YSRCP Guntur district president Ambati Rambabu has said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s governance in the last six months has burdened the State with massive debts, instead of creating wealth as promised.
Speaking at a press meet here on Tuesday, Rambabu criticised the TDP-led government for misleading people with hollow assurances.
He said that in just six months, the TDP government incurred debts amounting to Rs 65,000 crore. Additionally, Rs 31,000 crore was raised in the name of Amaravati, with another Rs 21,000 crore debt in the pipeline. He questioned how such borrowings could benefit the public, labelling the Chief Minister’s promises of wealth creation as deceptive.
Highlighting the TDP’s failure to deliver on key promises, Ambati pointed out that unemployment benefits of Rs 3,000 per month, pledged to jobless youth, remain unfulfilled. Instead, over 2.6 lakh workers, including health workers and volunteers, have been laid off.
He also accused the government of backtracking on its promise to provide 20 lakh jobs over five years, claiming that not only has this target been ignored, but existing jobs are being eliminated.
On the issue of electricity, Ambati criticised the government for hiking power charges by 25-55 per cent, imposing a burden of Rs 15,485 crore on consumers in six months.
