Hailing the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the Telangana BJP unit said, “It is a step forward towards attaining Viksit Bhrat” and would fulfil the hopes and dreams of the people.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, State party Vice-President NVSS Prabhakar said the budget is for the youth, is development oriented and would increase exports, production, attract investments and help self-employment.
The Centre has earmarked huge funds for agriculture, irrigation, education, construction of houses for the poor and for providing infrastructure like rural roads, he said. The Modi government aims to construct three crore houses and has already built 2.5 crore houses providing shelter to the needy, he said and added that Centre has also formulated an internship scheme paying Rs 5,000 a month for one crore youth which would  help them to get  self-employed.
Referring to the delay in appointing Vice-Chancellors for various state universities, Prabhakar said the BJP strongly condemns delaying the appointments of VCs due to political pressure. The Congress government invited applications and had constituted search committees. But so far no decision has been taken, he said.
He demanded that the Congress government should come out with clear procedures for appointing VCs and there is a need for a comprehensive inquiry regarding the VCs appointed by the BRS government who are now facing various charges.
