Development programme for LS officers to empower MPs

Benhur Mahesh Dutt Ekka, Director General, Dr MCR HRD Institute & Principal Secretary to Govt of Telangana, inaugurated the “Capacity building-cum-management development programme for executive officers and research officers of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, New Delhi.”

In his address, he said that the Members of Parliament have not only got exceptionally good understanding of the problems of people at the grassroots level but also possess innovative ideas in order to find enduring solutions to them. He called upon the officers to help the Members of Parliament in converting their ideas into actionable programmes, policies and schemes.

He called upon the officers to collect requisite data from multiple sources, tabulate it, and share it with the MPs, in the workable formats, in order to empower them to take up the public issues in Parliament and other national and international forums.

“Understanding the role of technology in conceptualising research projects and executing them will be greatly instrumental in helping the M Ps in a dynamic scenario”, he stated.

PK Malik, Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat, said, “Since 1976, the Parliamentary Research & Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE), a training arm of Lok Sabha Secretariat has imparted training to four lakh MPs, MLAs, civil servants, newly elected MLAs and academicians from different parts of India and also dignitaries from over 150 countries.

Sidhartha Gautam Kamidi, Deputy Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat, stated that PRIDE has got an ambitious plan of reaching out to women, youth and panchayat workers from across the country and conducting training programmes to make them understand the dynamics of effective functioning of democratic institutions.
