The Sri Rama Navami celebrations were held with devotion at various temples and the sacred Dhwajarohanam and the making of ‘Talambralu’ began at the famous Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple at Vontimitta on Thursday.
The Sri Rama Navami was solemnised with devotion at various temples. A large number of devotees thronged various temples across the state. At the famous Vontimitta temple, the making of ‘Goti Talambralu’ for the celestial wedding of Sri Rama and Sita to be solemnized on April 5, began on Thursday.
Minister for Water resources Ambati Rambabu visited the Vontimitta temple and offered prayers on Thursday. ZP Chairman Akepati Amarnath Reddy, MLA Meda Mallikharjun Reddy participated in a special ‘pooja’ at Vontimitta temple.
The Sri Rama Navami festivities were observed with celestial fervour in Kodanda Ramalayam in Tirupati on Thursday. After performing Abhishekam to Mulavirat in the morning, Snapana Tirumanjanam was rendered to the ‘utsava’ deities in Unjal Mandapam.
In the evening, new ‘vastrams’ to deities were decorated to the main deities and ‘utsava’ deities and later Sri Rama Navami Asthanam was performed. In the evening, Hanumantha Vahana Seva was observed between 7 pm and 9 pm.
Devotees in large numbers attended the celestial wedding of Lord Ram and Sita performed at Ramatheertham in Vizianagaram. Minister of Education Botsa Sathyanarayana presented silk robes and offerings to the deity on behalf of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
On the other hand, the canopies at Venugopala Swamy temple in Duvva village of Tanuku Mandal in West Godavari district accidentally caught fire on Thursday during the Srirama Navami celebrations. The accident is believed to have occurred due to a short circuit. No casualties were reported in the accident. More details about the accident are awaited. Fire engines rushed to the spot to douse the fire. The extent of the damage caused by the fire is yet to be ascertained.
