DGC orders release Rs 3.20 cr of seized cash by ECI teams

District Election Officer (DEO) Ronald Rose said that out of total of seizure of cash, the District Grievance Committee (DGC) ordered administration to release Rs 3.32 crore in respect of 123 cases. The money was released to those who had shown the relevant documents to the DGC.
The DEO said that Rs 49.47 lakh has been referred to the Income Tax and Commercial Tax Departments in three cases where people were transporting more than Rs 10 lakhs. Similarly, the Income Tax Department seized Rs.66.49 lakh in three cases.  Out of Rs 47.55 lakh which was seized in nine cases related to Cantonment constituency was referred to the DGC, where the committee ordered the release of Rs 12.50 lakh belonging to six people who have shown proper evidence. Rs.35.04 lakh has been referred to the Income Tax Department in connection with the three cases. In case of any doubt, the DEO suggested the people to call 9618888110 of DGC chairman or  committee convener at Cell No. 9177872240. Meanwhile, DEO Ronald Rose said that in the last 24 hours, from 6 am on Monday to 6 am on Tuesday, enforcement teams in the district seized Rs 46,63,220 in cash, Rs 1.21 cr worth of other material goods, 152 liters of liquor. 8 FIRs have been registered and 41 licensed weapons have been deposited in the police stations in the city. A total of Rs 19,67,06,705 in cash, and other goods worth of Rs 9,43,95,567 have been seized by various enforcement teams and 21,618 liters of liquor have been seized.
