Eminem has confirmed that the first single from his forthcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), Houdini, will be released this Friday, May 31, less than a month after he announced the album’s release.
In an Instagram post, the rapper faces FaceTime magician David Blaine and asks for “help with something.” “I was wondering, how far can we take this magic? ‘Can we do a stunt or something?’ Em asks Blaine, who drinks a glass of wine and then bites off its rim. “Well, for my last trick, I’m going to make my career disappear,” Em states, checking out of the conversation.
Not much is known about Eminem’s 12th studio album, which he has previously stated will be released this summer. Houdini is the first offering fans have received thus far, coupled with a preview of the instrumental that appears to be playing at the end of the Instagram post.
Although Eminem has kept the details of his new album, The Death of Slim Shady, under wraps, his longtime collaborator and mentor, Dr. Dre, divulged a few nuggets earlier this year. Dr. Dre appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in March and announced that Eminem was working on a new album. He also revealed that he contributed to several songs on the project and was planning to hear the album for the first time the day after his TV appearance.
