West Godavari District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani urged differently-abled individuals to make full use of government welfare schemes and opportunities designed for their upliftment.
Speaking at a programme held at DNR College campus on Tuesday to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), the Collector inaugurated district-level sports competitions for differently-abled individuals.
In her address, Collector Nagarani encouraged participants to draw inspiration from Paralympic medalists and strive for success in life. She emphasised the importance of excelling in education to achieve financial independence and called on voluntary organisations and individuals to support the education of differently-abled people.
She highlighted the role of Bhavita Centres, established in 20 mandals across the district, in providing essential services to differently-abled individuals and encouraged them to avail themselves of these resources. The Collector also stressed the need for enhanced medical services, noting the vulnerability of differently-abled persons to health issues.
To address their concerns, the Collector announced the introduction of a special Grievance Day for differently-abled individuals, to be held every three months, and revealed plans to construct a community hall for their use.
The event was attended by Disabled Persons Welfare Department Director B. Ram Kumar, SSA Project Officer Shyam Sunday, and Vignana Vedhika Convener Cherakuvada Ranga Sai, among others
