Director of Public Health issues advisory IMD-H issues heat wave alert in Telangana State

Heat wave alert (yellow) has been issued for Telangana by India Meteorological Dept- Hyderabad (IMD-H) as the State witnessed a dry spell with temperatures soaring to a maximum of 43 degrees Celsius.
Dr B Ravinder Nayak, Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Government of Telangana, issued an advisory for protection against heat wave to the public on Friday.
The advisory stated that the public should stay hydrated by drinking sufficient water as and when possible, even if you are not thirsty. Use Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), and consume home-made drinks like lemon water, butter milk/lassi with some added salts, fruit juices etc. People should carry water during travel and consume seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Also, we should cover ourselves by using umbrellas, hats etc to protect from the heat. Wear thin loose cotton garments preferably light colored. Wear shoes or chappals while going out in sun. Stay indoors as much as possible. Keep windows and curtains closed during the day, especially on the sunny side of your house. Open them up at night to let cooler air in. If going outdoor, limit your activity to cooler times of the day i.e., morning and evening
Moreover, stay updated to local weather news via radio, TV or newspapers. Get the latest update of weather on India Meteorological Department (IMD) website https://mausam.imd.gov.in/
Avoid getting out in the sun, especially between 12 noon and 3 pm. Avoid strenuous activities when outside in the afternoon. Do not consume beverages like tea and coffee, alcohol, carbonated soft drinks etc with large amounts of sugar. Avoid high-protein food and do not eat stale food. Do not leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
Seek immediate medical attention from nearby government health facilities if anyone is suffering from altered mental sensorium with disorientation, confusion and agitation, irritability, ataxia, seizure and coma. Also, those having a body temperature ?40 °C or 104 °F or showcasing symptoms of throbbing headache, anxiety, dizziness, fainting and light headedness,  rapid heart beat, rapid, shallow breathing etc.
As a part of precautionary measures, the Telangana government has made elaborate arrangements by providing special beds, IV fluids, essential medicines at all the public health facilities and ORS sachets are made available with ANMs/ASHAs/Anganwadi workers to meet any exigencies.
Temperatures in TG  witnesses 41-43oC
Temperatures in Telangana has hit 41-430C as per the officials of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). On Friday, the State witnessed 43.50C and Hyderabad recorded 42.00C.
The maximum temperature recorded across the State was 43.50C while the minimum temperature was 40.70C.
In regards to districts, Nalgonda recorded the highest temperature with 43.50C followed by Kumuram Bheem and Jogulamba Gadwal with 43.30C while Warangal recorded the lowest temperature with 40.70C.
