Dr. A. Mallikharjuna, District Collector of Visakhapatnam, officially launched the Armed Forces Flag Day celebrations in the district on Thursday. The event commenced with Dr. Mallikharjuna presenting the first donation to the Armed Forces Flag Fund in his office, marking the beginning of the fundraising campaign.
Extending heartfelt greetings on Armed Forces Day, Dr. Mallikharjuna expressed his gratitude to the soldiers, veterans, and their families residing in the district.
He urged the citizens, business owners, and industrialists to generously contribute to the Pataka Nidhi (Flag Fund), emphasising its crucial role in supporting the welfare of the Armed Forces.
Leading by example, Joint Collector K. S. Viswanathan and District Revenue Officer K. Mohan Kumar also made significant contributions to the fund. The participation of District Military Welfare Office staff and ex-servicemen added a sense of community and solidarity to the programme.
