The Telangana Primary Health Centre (PHC) Monitoring Hub was inaugurated by Health Minister Harish Rao on Friday.
As part of the programme, the government has set up CCTV Cameras in 887 PHCs across the state. These PHCs are connected to the Director of Public Health (DPH), Commissioner Health and Family Welfare and the Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMSIDC).
The system has been set up in the command and control room at the DPH office where there will be continuous monitoring. Speaking at the function, Harish said, “The CCTV cameras have been set up in the pharmacy, the outpatient ward, the pharmacy and the lab. Through the cameras, the doctor at the PHC has the option to see what is happening in the centre.
In future, if there is an epidemic, the DPH and other senior officials from the control centre can get in touch with the concerned PHC. We will also provide specialist facilities in this programme. If a person visiting the PHC needs consultation with a specialist he will be immediately connected to a specialist from a nearby medical college or district hospital.
The monitoring hub will also help ensure the safety and security of PHC staff as well as patients.”
