Dr Chandrasekhar appointed NTR Health University VC

Noted cardiologist Dr Pulala Chandrasekhar has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences by Governor Justice S Abdul Nazir. With 38 years of distinguished service in the public healthcare system, Dr Chandrasekhar brings a wealth of experience in medical care, education and administration.

Starting his career in 1987 as a Civil Assistant Surgeon at a Primary Health Centre in Srirangarajapuram, Chittoor district, Dr Chandrasekhar steadily rose through the ranks. He served as an Assistant Professor at Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Tirupati, before moving to Government Medical College, Kurnool, where he held key positions including Associate Professor, Professor, Superintendent of Government General Hospital, Dean and Principal. He retired in 2023 and was re-employed until his recent elevation as VC.

A native of Pyalakurthi village in Kurnool district, Dr Chandrasekhar holds MBBS and MD degrees from Kurnool Medical College and a DM in Cardiology from Christian Medical College, Vellore. He is an active member of several national cardiology associations and has authored numerous publications to raise awareness on heart health. His contributions were recognised with a ‘Certificate of Commitment’ from the World Book of Records, London.

Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav congratulated Dr Chandrasekhar on his appointment, commending his journey from a grassroots medical officer to a top academic leader through dedication and excellence in cardiology, teaching, and public health administration.
