Minister for Housing and I&PR K Parthasarathy has assured that drinking water, street lights, and roads will be provided to the PMAY and NTR colonies within seven days.
The Minister attended an awareness meeting held at the Uppalapadu urban housing layout in Narasaraopet mandal on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister reminded that the Jagananna Colonies have now been renamed as PMAY – NTR Colonies. “Electrification works from the main road to the colony are being carried out swiftly. Additionally, 1,500 more houses will be fully constructed by the end of March,” he added.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing housing to every poor person in the next five years and urged for continued efforts to fulfil the dream of every poor person owning a house.
The Minister further highlighted that during the 2014-2019 period, the government had allocated Rs 2.50 lakh for housing construction to each beneficiary, whereas the previous YSRCP government had provided only Rs 30,000 from the state and Rs 1.50 lakh from the central government.
Parthasarathy stated that the construction of roads and other infrastructure would be undertaken using funds allocated by the Housing Department. He also assured that he would speak to the police to ensure that anti-social activities are prevented in the colonies and regular patrolling is conducted.
The Minister expressed confidence that the housing construction targets would be met within the set timeframe and mentioned that bills to the contractors are being processed. MLA Chadalavada Aravind Babu, Collector P. Arun Babu, and RDO Madhavilatha were among those who attended the meeting.
