Drive on adoption through CARA

District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh has directed the Women and Child Welfare Department officials to put up posters in every secretariat to inform prospective parents about how to adopt children through CARA.

Collector Prasanna Venkatesh gave the application to the couple who applied through CARA (Central Adoption Resources Authority) in the presence of district women and child welfare department officials at the local district collector’s office on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh said that the parents who have adopted the children should take steps for the comprehensive development of the children along with their welfare regime. The Collector directed the District Child Welfare Officer to upload the follow-up reports of the children for adoption online.

As per the Central Adoption Resource Authority, Adoption Regulations 2022, the power to make adoption orders has been transferred from the Family Court to the District Collector and Magistrate from September 2, 2022.

According to this, three children who were given pre-adoption foster care at the Eluru Shishu Griha last month to give final adoption orders to the adoption applicants in the capacity of District Magistrate, Baby Shanthi was given to Natarajan and S. Soumya from Tamil Nadu, Baby Harshita was given to Tashkar Khanta And Vishwa Jyoti couple from Odisha and Master Praneet was given to Rajanala Durga Prasad, Naga Rajini couple from Telangana who appeared before the District Collector and Magistrate for adoption, after examining their antecedents, all relevant supporting documents, final adoption orders were issued these three under CARA regulations.

Women and Child Welfare Department Project Director K. Padmavathy, DCPO CH. Surya Chakraveni and Adoption Processing Officer R Rajesh were present on the occasion.
