Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the two Telugu states in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme.
Mentioning Telangana, the Prime Minister said that ‘Drone Didis’ have brought about tremendous changes in agriculture in Telangana. He praised the women farmers of Sangareddy district for using drones for farming.
“Rural women were trained as drone operators. They are using drones to spray insecticides in fruit gardens and on other crops. Drones spray more effectively to control insects than traditional methods. We can reduce the use of water and insecticides by 30 to 40 per cent by using drones. The women’s self-confidence and self-reliance have increased. Taking drone technology to rural areas is a great step forward. The Centre is providing subsidised drones to women’s groups under the ‘Drones for Agriculture’ scheme. Training Centres and drone licensing facilities are available,” Modi said, terming these women as ‘Sky Warriors.’
While mentioning AP, the PM said that he will attend the 11th International Yoga Day being held in Visakhapatnam on June 21. Modi praised Vizag, saying that it is famous for its natural beauty.
“Practising Yoga in Vizag’s surroundings is a great experience. AP launched the Yoga Andhra special campaign. It is aimed at educating people about the importance of Yoga and to introduce Yoga in every village and school,” the PM said.
