Swachandhra Corporation MD Gandham Chandradu announced that drone services will be employed to support the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ initiative. As part of a pilot project, drone services were introduced in various municipal corporations across the state on Tuesday.
He stated that with the assistance of AP Drones Corporation, drones are being deployed to identify unhygienic areas piled up with garbage and to support other government programmes. Initially, drone services will be used in Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Vizag, Vijayawada, Guntur, and Nellore corporations. Chandradu further explained that drones will be instrumental in identifying garbage dumps in various locations within the corporations, as well as for post-cleaning inspections in the context of community service. The drones are also being utilised to monitor whether designated areas are being cleaned under cleanliness standards. Moreover, drones will be used for monitoring and promoting various government programmes until October 2 to ensure improved service delivery.
Chandrudu added that the data collected using drones will be documented for future use, and efforts will be made to connect these drones with the special portal created by the Government of India for the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ programme to receive real-time information.
